چکیده

Solution to unsteady Navier-Stokes equation by Splitting method in physical orthogonal algebraic curvilinear coordinate system, also termed ‘Non-linear grid system’ is presented. The linear terms in Navier-Stokes equation are solved by CrankNicholson method while the non-linear term is solved by the second order Adams-Bashforth method. This work is meant to bring together the advantage of Splitting method as pressure-velocity solver of higher efficiency with the advantage of consuming Non-linear grid system which produce more accurate results in relatively equal number of grid points as compared to Cartesian grid. The validation of Splitting method as a solution of Navier-Stokes equation in Nonlinear grid system is done by comparison with the benchmark results for lid driven cavity flow by Ghia and some case studies including Backward Facing Step Flow Problem. Keywords—Navier-Stokes, ‘Non-linear grid system’, Splitting method.

Comparison of The LBM With the Modified Local Crank-Nicolson Method Solution of Transient Two-Dimensional Non-Linear Burgers Equation

Burgers equation is a simplified form of the Navier-Stokes equation that represents the non-linear features of it. In this paper, the transient two-dimensional non-linear Burgers equation is solved using the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). The results are compared with the Modified Local Crank-Nicolson method (MLCN) and exact solutions. The LBM has been emerged as a new numerical method for sol...

Scientific Flow Field Simulation of Cruciform Missiles Through the Thin Layer Navier Stokes Equations

The thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two complete missile configurations on an IBM 3090-200 vectro-facility supercomputer. The conservation form of the three-dimensional equations, written in generalized coordinates, are finite differenced and solved on a body-fitted curvilinear grid system developed in conjunction with the flowfield solver. The numerical procedure is based on ...

Numerical solution of the one dimensional non-linear Burgers equation using the Adomian decomposition method and the comparison between the modified Local Crank-Nicolson method and the VIM exact ‎solution

The Burgers’ equation is a simplified form of the Navier-Stokes equations that very well represents their non-linear features. In this paper, numerical methods of the Adomian decomposition and the Modified Crank – Nicholson, used for solving the one-dimensional Burgers’ equation, have been compared. These numerical methods have also been compared with the analytical method. In contrast to...

Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin Method– Steady, Non-Isothermal Fluid Flow Applications

Abstract : The meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method with unity as the weighting function has been applied to the solution of the Navier-Stokes and energy equations. The Navier-Stokes equations in terms of the stream function and vorticity formulation together with the energy equation are solved for a driven cavity flow for moderate Reynolds numbers using different point distributions. The L2-...

Turbulent Flow over Cars

In this paper the flow behaviour over a number of car bodies is studied. For this purpose the unsteady 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations have been applied. After averaging and nondimensionalizing the equations, the system of equations has been transformed from the Cartesian (x-y) coordinates to a body fitted generalized (-) coordinate. As the flow is incompressible, the density in the ...
